“My name is Sky Treadway and I have had the opportunity to serve at Beulah Beach going into my second summer! Last summer I was on support staff, but this summer I get to be a counselor for BOTR (Beulah on the Road).

BOTR is a very fast-paced week of camp that travels to different churches, sharing Jesus with  the kids from that community and showing them that being a Christian is fun! Every Monday we start with traveling to the church, then we unload and set up all the fun things, like the rock wall, inflatables, and dunk tank. After that we put on Family Fun Night, where families get to see what Beulah on the Road has to offer! We then have campers Tuesday through Friday, ending with a closing ceremony. We just finished up our first week of camp last week, and I can already see Jesus moving at Beulah on the Road this summer!

I went into that first week just needing a fresh wind of heaven. I got that and so much more! Over the week I had the opportunity to help 3 of my girls ask Jesus into their hearts for the first time. Watching kids find their identity in Jesus is just so amazing and emotional for me! I couldn’t contain the tears of joy when I got to have those moments with my girls! A total of 55 kids rang the bell our first week of camp!”

As many may already know, a long-standing Beulah tradition is to ring the bell that stands in the center of camp any time someone answers the call to follow Jesus, whether it is a first time commitment, a rededication, or even a decision to follow a specific calling the Lord has placed on someone’s life. The sound of the ringing of the bell throughout camp acts as a signifier and invitation to praise and worship the Lord, for He has done a great work in someone’s life! We believe that when we ring the bell and celebrate here on Earth, the angels are celebrating with us (Luke 15:10). Because of BOTR, this celebration doesn’t just remain in the physical bounds of camp. Just as we have the bell here on Beulah grounds  to serve as a vessel for our rejoicing, so also do we bring a similar bell on the road; and already there is so much to rejoice about regarding all of the ways the Lord has impacted the hearts of these kids, thanks to counselors like Sky who so willingly serve!

To close, Sky felt led to share the passage the Lord recently led her to as a picture for this summer, which is Luke 8:43-38.

“In Luke we meet a woman who has been bleeding out for 12 years. She’s in a crowd and so is Jesus. She believes if she can just touch the fringe of his garment she will be healed. As soon as she touches Jesus’s garment she is healed, but then Jesus stops. I don’t think she was prepared for what was about to happen. Jesus calls her out and calls her to be found. I feel like the Lord has put this on my heart for this summer. There are so many kids that are just trying to touch Jesus and I am here to help them extend their hearts to Him!

You might think that God doesn’t have time for you, or that he cares about the crowd, not who’s in it. But that’s not true. He left the 99 for the 1! He’s ready, just call out and be found!”
