As a whole, I have to be honest, I didn't think the SuperBowl commercials were all that great this year. In fact, the Kevin Bacon commercial that's been airing for the last few weeks is better than all of the ones that first aired Sunday night! Who else is a fan of that commercial?!
My favorite commercial of the SuperBowl was the Darth Vader Passat commercial - absolutely hysterical! Go and watch it really quickly at... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NvSgrxp8Yg
It got me thinking a little bit actually about how often I look for God's power in my every day life. If God demonstrated his power in my life today, would I honestly even recognize it or would I pass it off as a coincidence?
Luke 2:41-49 says this, "
41 Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. 43 After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44 Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
Parents, can you imagine your child being lost for three days? How crazily would you search for them? It had been three days since Mary and Joseph had seen Jesus when they finally found him. When is the last time that you've seen Jesus? When is the last time you "anxiously" searched for Him to come alive in your life? If He did, would you even know it? Are you looking for him? Don't go another day without seeing Him. God wants to show himself to you!
